When conducting feminist interventions into the “business as usual” framework of the urban growth machine, there is a palpable tension between process-based feminist praxis and outcome-based approaches to urban governance. However, this tension is unavoidable for organizations such as Women Transforming Cities, which are concerned with the means by which we achieve more socially just cities and seek to ensure that we reach those ends. In this talk, I will discuss Women Transforming Cities’ efforts to generate urban change and emphasize the need to bridge the gap between feminist urban praxis and product-driven policy.
